The Gordon Darling Foundation was established in 1991 by Gordon Darling, who passed away in 2015, aged 94. Its purpose is to fund Visual Arts activities Australia-wide.
The Foundation's charter is to support the visual arts and to promote, through Public Institutions, access to and enjoyment of the visual arts to the broadest possible audience.
Each year the Foundation assists Australian Public Institutions to undertake a wide range of visual arts projects in all Australian states and territories and helps to promote Australian arts in the international arena.
The Foundation also instigates initiatives where there is a perceived need for action.
